• June 27, 1940 A meeting was held at the Great Southern Hotel, and the First Unitarian Church was formed. See Invitation to organizing event and Statement of Purpose. Charter Members
• July 14, 1940 Regular Sunday Services Began.
• March 22, 1941 Founding statement was written, with the first covenant of “In the love of truth and in the spirit of Jesus we unite for the worship of God and the service of man.”
• 1945–46 Worship Committee Budget of $370.00.
• October 24, 1947 Inter-faith service and dedication of Menorah to Hillel – and they still use it!
• October 19,1947 Second Sunday service in the “New” Chapel on West 11th
• 1947 Dime Dinners at 6pm – Potluck
• October 1949 First vote to explore the union of the fellowships of Unitarians and Universalists. “This may very well turn out to be one of the great religious ventures of our time: the creation of a single channel of liberal religous advance in america!”

• May 16, 1959 Drafted Building fund plans for the 3-year construction of a new church here at 93 W. Weisheimer
• October 9, 1959 Proposed New Church Fact sheet about the new building.
