Music is an important, fundamental part of worship here!

We welcome you to participate in our vibrant music program

All choirs welcome and are open to anyone who attends First UU, whether a member or not. No audition is required for any group. Choirs are a great way to serve the church, meet people, and have fun while making music.

In addition to singing for services on a regular basis, the choirs also typically give two major concerts a year, in December and May. Along with vocal music, we regularly present chamber music concerts and host a wide variety of other performances through the First UU Concert Series.

Chalice Choir

Sings for the 11 AM service three Sundays each month. The choir performs music of all types—spiritual, secular, classic, modern, international, folk, popular – all at a high level.
Rehearsals are Thursday evening, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Spirit of Life

Sings for the 9:15 am service twice a month. It is an intimate group of about 15 members and sings a wide variety of music, from traditional contemporary choral literature to spirituals, folk songs, gospel and popular songs, all of which incorporate UU principles.
Rehearsals are Tuesday evening, 6:30-8:00 pm.

Rising Voices

Is our teen choir for ages approx. 11 – 16. It sings at both the 9:15 am and 11 am church services six to seven times per year. In addition, RV participates in the Holiday and Spring concerts, sings for special occasions, and often partners with Peace Pals and Spirit of Life.

Sacred Song Circle

Is a non-performance group of singers that meets Wednesdays. Based on the tradition of village singing all are welcome to come join this drop-in a cappella experience. Join fellow singers and non-singers as we sing to learn and sing to deepen our understanding and experience of UU theology. All are welcome!
Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:30 pm.

Peace Pals

Is our children’s choir for ages 5 – 10. They sing for church services four to five times a year, participate in the Holiday and Spring concerts, and perform for special occasions. Peace Pals sings music of many styles that is appropriate for younger voices and reflects UU ideas. Peace Pals often incorporate movement and gestures, and always lots of fun, into their music.
Rehearsals are Sunday Mornings from 12:30 – 1:00 pm (after the 11am service).
