| Our annual General Assembly (GA) is about to begin and UUA staff are busy preparing for an inspiring time of reconnection, democratic governance, worship, and learning together in community. Registration is still open; you are warmly invited to join us in person in Baltimore, MD or online from Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22. Learn more and register at UUA.org/GA.
There is much to do together at GA as we celebrate 200 years of our Unitarian roots in America, elect a new UUA Moderator, and consider what it means for us to meet the moment we are in as one living, evolving Unitarian Universalist religious tradition. This email shares business and program updates, along with essential details to help you get engaged during GA this year.
With you on the journey,

| Image description: The image above has a teal blue background with these words centered in black text: “Happy 200th Anniversary to the UK Unitarians and the Unitarian Universalists!” Beneath this are organizational logos — a series of downward-pointing stripes in bright green above the words “the unitarians” and a red flaming chalice above the words “Unitarian Universalist Association”. Set to the left of this is an image of Liz Slade, with light skin and short wavy hair, wearing a dark coat and scarf. Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt is on the right, wearing glasses, a red blazer and a black shirt.
|
| One reason GA this year is special is because of the opportunity to celebrate our history together. Recently, UUA President the Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt joined with Liz Slade, Chief Officer of the UK Unitarians, to honor the happy coincidence that the American Unitarian Association and the British and Foreign Unitarian Association were founded on the same day in May, 200 years ago. |

At the core of our time together at General Assembly, we carry out the democratic governance of our Association. During the business sessions this year, UUs will consider new Congregational Study Action Issues; honor historic anniversaries for the American Unitarian Association, the Liberal Religious Educators Association and Our Whole Lives; we’ll say farewell to our current UUA co-Moderators, the Rev. Meg Riley and Charles Du Mond, and elect a new UUA Moderator. Learn more about the business agenda and prepare to participate with us in this essential work of our faith. |

We will elect a new UUA Moderator at GA this year! This significant role is the highest volunteer position in our Association and the person or team who holds this role will serve as our Chief Governance Officer. The current candidates are Rev. Kimberly Quinn Johnson and Bill Young running as a co-Moderator candidate team, and Natasha Walker running as an individual Moderator candidate. The election begins on June 1 and concludes at GA. |

Delegates are critically important to the democratic process at General Assembly. Only certified member congregations can be represented by delegates, and a special delegate platform is used for proposing amendments, discussion, and voting during General Session. Delegates can also register for business-only access to the delegate platform. |

As a multiplatform event, GA is accessible to a broader audience. To get the most out of the multiplatform experience, registrants will need to download the GA mobile app by Whova. In addition to program listings, speaker profiles, and networking opportunities, the Whova app gives you direct access to all programming, whether live or on-demand. |
