“Power of a Single Story” (Screening UU Kent)

“Join UUYJ youth as they share stories from their week-long cultural immersion and service trip to Washington, DC, reflecting on how a single story can take hold of a group of people and reduce them to narrow stereotypes. Drawing on our UU understanding of the interdependent web of all existence, the youth invite us to hear how one story, layered with others, becomes something richer: a complex, interwoven story that honors the full humanity of the people they met.” Youth from First Columbus participate in these trips, and fundraise all year long! Our Share-the-Plate donations in September go to the League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

Our local LWV has been one of our Democracy & Human Rights Focus Group’s main partners for voter registration.
