Nehemiah Action May 13!

We hope to see you at our annual BREAD Nehemiah Action on Tuesday, May 13, 6:40 pm, Celeste Center, 717 E. 17th Ave. at the State Fairgrounds!

The issues this year are so vital! We need to preserve and grow our tree canopy, and we need to protect renters in our city!

Here is what BREAD will be asking for this year:

  1. A private tree ordinance to prevent developers from clear cutting trees on private property (BREAD got a public tree ordinance through in 2023.)
  2. Improve Columbus’ tree canopy from 22% to 40% by 2050 with emphasis on priority neighborhoods (those with as little as 9% tree coverage).
  3. A rental registry requiring property owners to provide contact information before renting out any residential property And require out of town owners to designate a local agent for the city to contact in case of an emergency.
  4. A systematic pre-rental inspection.

BREAD pays for parking, so you can drive. Or avoid the traffic and take the bus leaving First UU at 5:45 pm ($5/person; $10/family at the Social Justice table).
