In My Heart: A Book of Feelings Read Aloud

Hello UU Families! Please join Jen B for a story, In My Heart by Jo Witek! This week we find ourselves close to Valentine’s Day. Within the ideas of this “holiday” include letting people know we care about them, and sharing messages of love. Our theme this month is Widening Our Circle. Which includes opening ourselves up to caring about people in a wider sense, understanding that all people have needs for shelter, food, and water, connection, and caring. In honor of the connection of these two things I have a book called In My Heart: A Book of Feelings.

This week we invite you to create notes for the people you care about with your child. Maybe draw a heart shape, and color it in with the things or with words/names of things we like and care about. (For example, my heart might have a picture of my kitty, a tree, maybe some words about the people I love, and a hug for those I haven’t been able to see for a while). Feel free to share with us your pictures and words. In the sharing of these messages we widen our circle, and deepen our connections to one another.

We are so looking towards the time when we can be together in space and in play! And, it is coming soon. Please stay tune, and plan to join us for outdoor RE and other fun on Sunday, 2/27! Here is a video suggestion, “For Estefani” poem by Aracelis Girmay – from the Soul Matters Curriculum that I have included here for you. It is a short segment involving a note from a 3rd grade student to her teacher, with a mysterious message “LOISFOERIBARI”. -Jen
