    Zen Meditation

The regularly scheduled sittings on Saturday mornings at 8:30 and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 are jointly sponsored by First Unitarian Universalist Church and Zen Columbus Sangha. These events are freely given and open to all.

The Saturday and Tuesday sits are both in-person and online. We usually meet in Beach Fellowship Hall (look for the shoes left outside the room). There is a map of the building on the kiosk near the main entrance. Feel free to ask anyone for directions in the building.

Each sit consists of two 25 minute periods of sitting meditation (zazen) with a 5 minute period of walking meditation between them. We close with a short chanting ceremony. Cushions and mats (or chairs) are provided. Latecomers can quietly enter the meditation hall during the walking meditation period.

Guided Mediation ~ Be Where Your Feet Are ~

This meditation class is designed to calm the mind, improve focus, and support overall well-being through simple guided practices and breath awareness. The class also invites participants to connect with a greater sense of purpose, presence, and connection beyond the distractions of everyday life.
This class meets each week on Tuesday from 6-7:15 pm. All are invited! Drop Ins welcome!
Our Instructor, Patricia O’Toole, Ph.D., has been a dedicated student of meditation and life’s deeper questions for almost 20 years. She is a student of Her Holiness Jagadguru Sai Maa, the first female Jagadguru in the more than 2,700-year history of the Vishnuswami lineage.
Through her studies with Sai Maa, Patricia shares integrative teaching methodologies that blend Eastern wisdom with Western understanding—guiding individuals toward a direct experience of themselves as love, light, and source consciousness.
A lifelong educator, Patricia currently teaches Mindfulness at Ohio Wesleyan University.
