First UU’s anti-racist program, called Living the Pledge, will be offered for the third time this spring, with more sessions to come next year. Living the Pledge workshops are in-depth workshops that delve into various aspects of racism. Developed by the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond, Virginia, Living the Pledge is a good first introduction to anti-racism work, but goes deep enough to contribute to anyone’s learning. This is the last training this church year, with both in-person and virtual options.

Time: 12:15 PM
Location: Room 201
The topic is “What Do I Say When …” and we will practice responding to offensive or racist comments that you might hear in your daily life. You can bring your own examples or respond to the examples of others.
We are holding this training for a second time based on its popularity with our participants the first time. In our last training, participants enthusiastically brought forward examples of racist comments that made them uncomfortable wondering how to respond, and shared that they hoped we held another training like this soon.
