Happy Friday!
This week we’re going to be exploring the new Article 2 of the UUA bylaws and how they invite us to live out our values in this world, holding Love at the center as our guiding force.
In the coming weeks, you can look forward to learning about our church history and how we’ve lived our values as a church through the years, I thought it would be fun to give you a “Sneak Peek” with the First Unitarian Church of Columbus vision statement from 1956–63:

A-S-H Presents “The True Believer”
Tuesday, September 24, 7:00 PM
For the next meeting of the UU Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists, will discuss the book “The True Believer” by Eric Hoffer. This essay, first published in 1951, when the country was still coming to grips with the aftermath of World War II, and the start of the Cold War, provides insights into how political, social, and religious movements arise and are embraced by dedicated followers. Seventy-three years later these insights can help us understand what is happening in the world today. |

Sunday, September 22
and September 29
Come to Beach Hall after services to write letters to young Ohio voters. Writing personalized, handwritten letters to voters is one of the most effective ways you can help increase voter turnout. Write to voters from underrepresented communities to encourage them to vote in this critical election. Your time can make a big impact.

Sundays September 29 – October 27
Tuesday October 15
Saturdays October 12 & 19
Fall is the season for House meetings, or “Listening Sessions,” when Leaders in BREAD congregations ask their members to discuss problems that have weighed on their heart this past year and further develop relationships with each other. Hundreds of stories are shared to identify the biggest problems facing our community, for BREAD’s efforts to get justice for the many who have no voice. |
|
Whether you have a story to share, or only want to listen to others, Please sign up for one of First UU’s listening sessions at the JAM table in Beach Hall after church, or email our First UU Bread Team to sign up. To invest in BREAD’s work for justice and to learn more, go to breadcolumbus.com. |

Please Register by September 30
|
|
The Living the Pledge Facilitators are excited for our latest workshop of Living The Pledge to End Racism.
This intensive training requires about 3 hours of preparation for each session by reading and/or watching videos. Though this is an intense experience, the meaningful conversations about racism help participants not only gain a deeper understanding of racism, but also gain clarity on concrete actions they can take, with a robust support system to help them move forward. Please consider joining this meaningful work. Email questions to the Living The Pledge Leaders. |
