Friday’s News & Updates!

February 12, 2021

Good Friday morning all!

We have several important announcements below, so please take a moment to scroll through this email for more information. In particular, be sure to see the announcement for our Mid-Year meeting, happening on Sunday right after the service. We need a quorum of members, so please plan to attend. We will be voting on a few items.

Also, if you’ve been participating in the Spiritual Practices class, or have been wanting to attend, please note that there is no class this Monday. We will resume on the 22nd.

Our Pathways to Membership classes have been rescheduled, so be sure to look at that announcement to see how to register. Even if you can’t attend either of the dates, please register for either the option to do a one-on-one with me or be notified about the next class.

And finally, please check out our Auction which is in week 2 – Good Stuff! These items will disappear at 11:59 pm on Saturday, and our week 3 offerings will go live Sunday morning.

Just a reminder, if you would like an announcement in the Friday News, please email me no later than Wednesday at 8:00 pm with FRIDAY NEWS in the subject line.

Virtual hugs,

UPCOMING SERVICES &
BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sunday Service – Side with Love
Join us Sunday, February 14th, as we join UU congregations from around the country for the UUA’s Side with Love service. What if to “side with love” meant making bold, faith-full choices? What if it were even a little bit scary? This worship service brings together worship leaders and musicians from across the country to offer hopeful, moving, challenging reminders about what we, as Unitarian Universalists, are called to do, and BE, in the world.
Mid-Year Meeting 2/14
Join us Sunday, February 14th right after the service for our Mid-Year meeting. We will be needing a quorum of members for some items on the agenda, so please plan on attending. You can join the meeting by using the coffee hour link provided in the Sunday service email.
February Soul Matters Packets are Here!
Our February Soul Matters Packets on Beloved Community have all been mailed. We know that the post office is pretty backed up, so it may take longer than usual for you to receive your packet. You can find the digital versions here: General Packet (for all ages); Soulful Home (UU activities to do as a family); Chalice Home (tips for creating sacred space at home).

Faith Forward – Spiritual Practices
We are so excited to introduce Faith Forward, an adult RE curriculum developed by the First Unitarian Church of Dallas. We will begin this curriculum with Spiritual Practices – a 12 session series that helps us to develop regular disciplines of the spirit – practices that help us connect with the sacred. You do not need to attend all of the sessions, so if you can’t attend one or a couple, don’t let that stop you from participating!

Spiritual Practices is NOT meeting this Monday. Next class will be Monday, February 22nd at 7:00 pm.

Visit our website to learn more about Faith Forward, register for the Spiritual Practices class, and see the other incredible courses that are being offered next!

GROUP HIGHLIGHTS

Meditation Group
Barb Fiorini will facilitate a loving-kindness meditation on Sunday 2/21. Together, we’ll practice fostering compassion for ourselves and for others. We’ll reflect on our emotional reactions to the Covid vaccination process, sending compassion and gratitude out into the world. Afterward, we’ll ask the group for feedback and float ideas for additional meditation sessions in future months. Every is welcome.

To participate, join the Coffee Hour Zoom after Sunday service on 2/21, and watch for instructions to connect to the meditation room. If you cannot attend but still want to share feedback or ideas about these meditations, please reach out to Isabel via email.
