Betty’s Holiday Yams

A yummy variation on the yam theme!

  • 2 17 ounce Cans of Yams (or 1- 40 oz can of Bruce's Yams)
  • â…“ cup Brown Sugar (packed)
  • â…“ cup Chopped Pecans
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 2 Apples; peeled and thinly sliced (Granny Smith preferred. 2 large/3 medium)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • ¼ cup Butter
  • â…›-¼ tsp Vanilla (to taste)
  • Miny Marshmallows (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350°

  2. Drain yams.

  3. Peel and slice apples.

  4. Mix apples, cinnamon, salt, brown sugar, and pecans.

  5. Add vanilla.

  6. Layer yams with apple mixture in casserole dish.

  7. Dot with butter.

  8. Bake 30 minutes.

  9. If desired, cover with marshmallows and broil until they are light brown. (Note: will brown quickly. 1-2 minutes.)
