Friday’s News & Announcements

Happy Friday!
First UU is remarkable in the number of people who have been inspired from here to serve Unitarian Universalism, whether in the ministry, UUA staff or volunteer positions. We will hear from two of them this fall! Carey McDonald, son of our former Music Director, Tony McDonald (sadly deceased), will be preaching on Sunday, October 20. Carey is the Executive Vice President of the UUA, as well as a city council member in Malden, MA. Eric Dawson, son of Dick and Karen Dawson, is a social innovator as well as a UU Minister. He’ll be joining us November 10. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from those who credit First UU as an important part of their formation!
Blessings,
Rev. Terasa

Get into Good Trouble with Pens, Phones, and Feet!
After services Sunday, October 13
Good Troublemakers, come to the Democracy & Human Rights table to record all your “Good Trouble” for UU the Vote. Help us record all the phone calls, texts, voter registrations, canvassing, post cards, and letters done outside of First UU to report to UU the vote.
So far, our “Good Trouble” numbers are: 350 postcards and letters, 41,873 texts, 0 phone calls, 197 door knocks, 230 ballot petition signatures, and 11 voter registrations. Share your efforts with us. It’s not too late to be involved. As John Lewis said: |

After services Sunday, October 13
Come help write postcards to support Issue 1, the Citizens not Politicians amendment aimed at disrupting gerrymandering in Ohio. The ballot language is intentionally confusing, so the postcards make a big difference! |

Thank You for Your Generosity!
|
|
Thank you for the many who brought in their “Read and Feed” bags full of grocery supplies that will help feed families in need! Next month we’ll be distributing bags again with a list of personal items that folks need almost as much as food. Your donation means that food will be on the table for those who sometimes have none in their cupboards.
Available to help sort and distribute? Ask Jacques Angelino for more Info! |
