Hey y’all,

I hope you all had a good week. There’s some really exciting news to share with you all today!  I’m going to give this space over to our Board co-chairs, Jan Phillips and Billy Davidson to tell you more. – KelliFrom your Board of Trustees:

With joy and excitement we announce to you Kelli McNeal’s promotion to Minister of Congregational Life at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus.

Kelli first joined us in August 2019 as Congregational Life Coordinator.  Through hard work and ongoing professional development, Kelli advanced through membership job titles, and passed her Ministerial Fellowship Committee Interview on December 3, 2021.  In recognition of her commitment to the professional ministry, we now formally recognize her as a minister of our congregation.

And, on August 27, 2022, jointly with First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond, Virginia, will will ordain her as a Minister.  We hope that you will be a part of this grand celebration.

Please join us in congratulating Kelli!

On another note:

A huge thank you to our Reopening Task Force, made up of Carolee Noonan, Dennis Frazier, and Christine Davidson!  The task force has completed its work, leaving the church a solid framework to monitor and respond to ongoing changes with the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Going forward, Church staff will be tasked with monitoring and making decisions relating to COVID-19 mitigation.  Any questions about current COVID protective measures should be directed to Rev Marian or other staff members.

This Week’s Sunday Service! 7/10
Freedom Up Against the Wall

Join us on Sunday, July 10th at 10:00am. The recent Supreme Court ruling about abortion was a serious blow to the freedoms and rights of pregnant people. But this ruling, along with rulings about prayer, guns, the environment, statements about the future of LGBTQIA+ rights and an assortment of restrictive state policies have signaled a major eroding of the wall between church and state in the US. A very narrow interpretation of religious values is now trying to remake our social reality. Do we understand the dimensions of this situation? What can we do to raise up our liberating UU values in the face of this attempt to institute a modern American theocracy?

Worship Presenter: Rev. Joan Van Becelaere
Join us at 10am, in person or online!

Pandemic Policy Update

First UU has moved to Mask Optional. For RE on Sundays we suggest children age 2+ years wear masks during indoor group time, but may choose to take them off outdoors, when we are more spaced out. We encourage all families to do what feels comfortable and safe for you!
