Minji Kim, Director
Chalice Choir is the oldest and largest of the choral ensembles at First UU Church. With approximately 60 members, Chalice Choir sings at the 11 AM service three Sundays each month. The choir performs music of all types—spiritual, secular, classic, modern, international, folk, popular – all at a high level. It occasionally takes the opportunity to perform large choral works and has recently done the Fauré Requiem, Gloria by Karl Jenkins and Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams, often with orchestral accompaniment.
Rehearsals are Thursday evening, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.
The musical backgrounds and abilities of singers in Chalice Choir range from the novice amateur to the experienced professional. All are welcome, whether or not a member of the church, and choir members are always willing to help each other out, much like a large extended family. Members share both laughter and beautiful moments of music making together on a regular basis.
All choirs welcome and are open to anyone who attends First UU, whether a member or not. No audition is required for any group. Choirs are a great way to serve the church, meet people, and have fun while making music.
