# of UU's involved
Ten as regular volunteers. Many members of the church are donors; hundreds of petition signatures have been collected on various reproductive issues over the past year, over one hundred members receive email alerts.
Purpose
The mission is to support and protect, as a fundamental right and value, a woman’s freedom to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices though education, training organizing, legal action and public policy. The Foundation conducts many programs, including Emergency Contraception access, educational programs for community groups and schools, outreach programs for the general public, setting the record straight to educate the public and elected officials about reproductive rights through the media and other sources, and producing a quarterly newsletter, 'The Voice of Choice'.
Scope
The Foundation conducts programs throughout the state. This year, it is focusing on the access to Emergency Contraception (both through pharmacies and emergency rooms), increasing access to comprehensive sex education in our schools, increasing knowledge about and access to family planning services, getting students involved through our Campus Organizer program and getting pro-choice Ohioans involved in these projects through our Choice Superhero volunteer program. These projects will increase access to reproductive health services and information about reproductive health issues throughout Central Ohio and the entire state.
Justification for First UU support
The projects of the Foundation further the purpose of the First UU Church and its Social Justice Committee. The Unitarian Church has supported a woman's right to choose since 1963 and has supported the Roe v. Wade decision since 1973. Our organizational mission supports the mission of the church in its support of personal freedom, the worth and dignity of each individual and our work to promote justice and equality for all people. Funding from the First UU Church will help support our mission and our work towards these goals.
Funding sources
Gund Foundation $40,000; NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation $25,000; Community Shares of Mid Ohio and Greater Cleveland $10,000; Private donations.
