LOBBY DAY TRAINING, Sat. April 8, 10am - noon at Stonewall Community Center, 1160 North High Street
May 17 Lobby Day, 9am-3pm: Our elected officials need to get to know the LGBT community and straight allies. Lobby Day is our chance to build bridges and meet face-to-face with the men and women who shape state laws that impact our lives and our families. Let's not wait until another piece of terrible legislation is introduced. Registration is required at www.equalityohio.org or 614-202-8869. Equality Ohio will setup meeting times on May 17 with legislative staff, then provide you with your schedule. You are welcome to bring your loved ones, including children. We will have a "family break area" for nursing and play. There will be a training workshop in the morning before heading to the offices of legislators. You will receive helpful materials and tips that will prepare you well to speak to your representatives.
You will need to set aside the whole day (what a great use of a vacation day!) This is an exciting opportunity for Ohio's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender citizens and straight allies to take concerns directly to their state officials. Legislators typically say that they hear 99 to 1 from those in favor of anti-gay legislation. We must change that. It will be a landmark day! Be a part of it! RSVP by: April 15, 2006 at 12:00 am.
