As a parent or guardian, you are the primary religious educator for your child. Your words, actions and relationships convey to your child much of what he or she understands about life and its meaning. Our church program can help you fulfill your mission as a religious educator, but only to the extent of your involvement in it. The more you know about-and participate in-your child's experience of RE, the more you can support its goals and lessons in daily life and the more enriching the experience will become for your child.

RIGHTS
1. Program Knowledge. You have the right to know about our philosophy, methodology, and safety/discipline policies. You may direct comments and questions to the DRE or Sunday School committee and expect a quick reply.

2. Safety. You have the right to expect two adults leading every Sunday School class with care and attention to the needs of every child. All adults and youth working with children will sign a code of ethics form.

3. Confidentiality. You can expect confidentiality in discussions with the DRE or Sunday School committee members when you share sensitive concerns, which may include your child's special needs or family structure. Discussions of child abuse or suicide cannot be confidential.

4. Involvement. You have the right to be fully involved in helping your child become a morally responsible young adult. Parents are welcome visitors in the classroom at any time. Please introduce yourself to the teacher.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Registration. Parents must register their child(ren) each year. They will tell the DRE of any changes in family structure, contact information, or special needs.

2. Program Support. We expect that every family will support the church financially through a regular pledge, whether or not you choose to become a member. We also expect that every family will support our program by volunteering in some capacity.

3. Supervision. At all times when on church grounds, children must be supervised. When children are not in class, parents/guardians are responsible for their behavior and their safety.

4. Playgrounds. For safety reasons, during worship services (9am to 10:15am and 11am to 12:15pm), the climbing structure and play area adjacent to the church office are reserved for the exclusive use of Sunday School classes, under the supervision of Sunday School teachers. Children may use the areas before, after, or between services, but only under the direct supervision of their parent/guardian. Families are expected to return all play items to their original location.

5. Pick-up. First UU will provide a full hour of religious exploration every Sunday after the children's story. Please pick up your child at 12:15, or as soon as the worship service is complete. Only children in grades 4 and up will be released from class without a parent.

6. "Drop Off." Children grades 5 and younger may not be dropped off at church. A parent must remain on church grounds at all times in case of medical emergency. If parents wish to designate a specific "church guardian," they may fill out an additional form.
