 What is Stewardship ?
At its most basic, it’s how we care for the gifts we have received. It means taking care of our environment, of other people and of ourselves. Stewardship is the wise and faithful use of our resources – our time, talents and treasure. Stewardship is about community – using all we have been blessed with wisely and with care.
Does My Pledge Really Matter?
It most certainly does! We have had wonderful growth and been able to achieve many goals in the past. But First UU manages to maintain all this only through the giving of members like you – we rely on everybody. We do not have a large endowment to fall back on in times of need – just those precious pledge envelopes!
What is “5 by 5”?
We encourage our members and friends to consider committing five per cent of their income to our congregation, or to strive to meet this level in 5 years. Our projected per member cost of our budget is approximately $1,350. As some of our members are still in high school or in financially stretched circumstances, please make your own pledge as generous (and realistic) as you can.
What are our Expenses?
Every year our members meet in early June and pass a balanced budget. This is our opportunity as members to ensure that our spending is in line with our values and goals.
